Updated Emergency Pet Services for Central Newfoundland as of September 2024
At Gander Veterinary Clinic, we're dedicated to providing top-notch veterinary care for your pets. However, like many clinics in Central Newfoundland, we’re facing the challenges brought on by the current veterinarian shortage. Managing both daytime appointments and emergency services, along with overnight care, has become increasingly difficult. To ensure we continue delivering the highest level of care, we’ve implemented new protocols in collaboration with Exploits Valley Animal Hospital and Mid Island Animal Health Centre.
Updated Emergency Services for Central Newfoundland:
Daytime Emergencies (8:00 am – 9:00 pm): Emergency services are shared on a rotational basis between Gander Veterinary Clinic, Exploits Valley Animal Hospital, and Mid Island Animal Health Centre.
After-Hours Emergency Triage (9:00 pm – 8:00 am): During overnight hours, our clinic has partnered with Animal Health Link, where certified veterinary technicians will triage emergency calls. Simply call our regular clinic number and you’ll be connected for guidance on the next steps.
NO Overnight Coverage: Only life-threatening emergencies—cases where immediate care is essential to save a pet’s life—will be seen between 9:00 pm and 8:00 am.
We understand that changes like these may be an adjustment, but our goal is to ensure consistent, high-quality care for all of our patients. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
